A Volunteer Group dedicated to improving the appearance and facilities of Romiley Park

The main focus of the groups activities is the once or twice a month gardening days

Due to the ever-diminishing funds and staff that the council has available for greenspace upkeep, the time and work the volunteers provide along with the access to monies via grants and fund raising is vital. This means that visitors to Romiley Recreation Park are greeted with well stocked and maintained flower beds and borders, a fit for purpose children’s play area and outdoor gym equipment.

The grassed areas maintained by the council give plenty of space for ball games, picnics and outdoor activities. They also keep borders of bushes and shrubs cut and trimmed, as well as undertaking tree maintenance. Regular contact with the council's specialist officers provides expert opinion and guidance for all aspects of gardening, plant and tree purchases, and grant applications.
