In the Spring of 2009, the Friends Group successfully obtained a £25,000 grant from The Big Lottery, along with £1,000 from Akzo Nobel and Commuted Funds via Stockport MBC. These monies have enabled us to remove some of the 1970’s play equipment in the children’s play area and replace them with up to date items.

In March 2011 the Friends received a further grant from Akzo Nobel (see Web Links) of £5,000 and along with the balance of commuted funds via Stockport MBC we hope to complete the final phase of a complete update of the playarea. The group are in the process of waiting for proposals of prices and equipment suitable from Stockport MBC in order that we can then go out to residents for consultation. Once this is completed we should be able to confirm timescales for this final stage.

It is also the intention that we look at equipment for outside the play area that would be more suitable for 12yrs to adult age group. A meeting was held with Parks and Leisure and we are awaiting the outcome of this.
