Our Projects

Friends of Romiley Park have helped to make a number of improvements within the park. Take a look at our list of projects below and see if you can remember what the park used to look like.

Childrens Play Area

Play Area Opening In the Spring of 2009, the Friends Group successfully obtained a £25,000 grant from The Big Lottery, along with £1,000 from Akzo Nobel and Commuted Funds via Stockport MBC. These monies have enabled us to remove some of the 1970’s play equipment in the children’s play area and replace them with up to date items.

Front of Park

Front of Park In 2006 we received a grant from Manchester Airport, this enabled us to redesign and plant the bed bordering the primary school.

After years of flooding at the front of the park, in conjunction with the Safe Routes to School Programme, Stockport MBC replaced and repaired all the drainage systems, repaved and installed lighting, creating a much safer, useable and easier access through Romiley Park.
