Meeting 1st November 2011
Minutes of Meeting held on 01st November 2011 @ 7.00pm at The Life Centre. Romiley.
Present: -Tracey Adams* (Chair), Beryl Smith*, Alan Smith*, John Ackers*, Debbie Barraclough *, Maureen Puckett*, Rosie Sanderson* & Cllr Hazel Lees. *Residents. 1. Apologies from Sharon MacCambridge- Ackers*, Margaret McLay*, Lisa Brumwell*,
PCSO John Cracknell & Cllr Syd Lloyd.
2. Minutes of the Meeting on 06 Sept 2011 were accepted with one amendment. The
Christmas event is on 9th December.
3. Treasurers Report: - Balance now £8992.79.
Accounts approved for payment – Web Site: £82.50.
4. Action Plan.
• TA / AS met JL on 16 September and reviewed all outstanding matters/programme.
• Centre Bed – Shrubs and perennials were planted on 27 October. Just a few plants still
required. JL has ordered. JL recommended wood chippings to be spread next spring.
• Entrance Arch – AS to obtain further details and costs prior to fundraising.
• Bulbs for the boundary of Carlton and Heyworth Ave planted on 29 October task day.
• Memorial seat – Plaque required. MP to supply wording. AS to chase manufacture.
• Dog Fouling – Agreed to continue to highlight the problem. Any bin can now be used
for disposal! Notices required from SMBC.
• Police – A few minor problems, graffiti removed by JA.
• Purchase of three junipers approved for Compstall Rd entrance, £15. GL to action.
• Grass cutting, edging and strimming well done in October. Thanks to P&L staff.
•Hedge Cutting – all completed except beech hedge along school boundary.
•AS to contact Anthony Crook re tree pleaching and new larch trees. Programme required.
•It was agreed that an additional bin by the new seat would reduce litter.
• Planting Tubs – planted as agreed and looking good.
•DB reported nil progress with funding for planting tubs in the village. It appears Cllr Lloyd
has planted them up but ongoing planting & maintenance is in abeyance.
5. Play Area
•AS reported a response from Vanessa Brook on 25 October. Work on the items sponsored by AkzoNobel proceeding immediately to be followed by the bigger units. ? Cycle rack fixed but new rubbish bin still to be installed. Outstanding/JL
• JL had confirmed that the new Signboard is in the stores and will be fixed during the installation of the new equipment. Outstanding/JL. Cllr HL to chase.
6. Lighting - all now operational. 7. Events ? Christmas Event – Confirmed. NK Theatre singers and Romiley Primary band. Donation
of £50 to the school was agreed. DB confirmed PA system from Cllr SL. 5 Gazebos
required. JL/RB/AH – can you assist? ? Catering – Coffee 4 U unlikely. Mince pies and biscuits from local traders- DB to
confirm. Donations will be publicised. MP confirmed Father Christmas booked. HL
proposed leaflets and posters funded by the Village Partnership.
• AS reported further details on the “Baton Passing” event on 7 July. Community Sports Day? Which sports? To be discussed in detail at the next meeting.
8. Exercise Circuit - Advice on equipment & costs required from VB.9 AGM on 11 January 2012 at 7pm at the Life Centre followed by Committee Meeting.
TA expressed thanks to the Life Centre for continued use of their premises.
10 Task Days – 3 DECEMBER 10.00 till Noon. Tidy up ready for the concert. 28 JANUARY 10.00 till Noon. Weeding etc.
