Meeting 6th September 2011
FRIENDS OF ROMILEY PARK
Minutes of Meeting held on 06th September 2011 @ 7.00pm at The Life Centre.
Present: -Tracey Adams* (Chair), Beryl Smith*, Alan Smith*, Sharon MacCambridge-Ackers*, John Ackers*, Debbie Barraclough *, Margaret McLay* & PCSO John Cracknell. *Residents.
- Apologies from Cllr Hazel Lees, Maureen Puckett* & Rosie Sanderson*.
- Minutes of the Meeting on 05 July 2011 were accepted as a true record.
- Treasurers Report: - Balance now £9156.14. Accounts approved for payment. AS (Easter Eggs etc) £152.50 & TA (Photographs) £10.85. New balance £8992.79.
- Play Area
- AS responded to the email from R Nedeljkovic as requested and a meeting has been fixed with Cllr John Smith on Monday 12 September.

- A new rubbish bin and cycle rack will be installed at the front of play area. Outside the main gate. – Outstanding/JL
- New Signboard required. “No ball games” and “no cycles” signs required.-outstanding/JL
- Weedkiller required in the play area outstanding/JL
5. Action Plan.

- We now have a Green Flag but no flagpole. All to make an effort to source. Cost £700.
- TA / AS to meet JL on 16 September to review all outstanding matters/programme.
- Planting Tubs – planted as agreed and looking good. DB to seek funds for village tubs. If successful we will take on the planting & maintenance if SMBC agree.
- Centre Bed – Shrubs and perennials to be planted in the autumn. Details outstanding/ JL.
- Optician’s bed – wood chippings done.
- Entrance Arch – AS to obtain further details and costs prior to fundraising.
- Bulbs for the boundary of Carlton and Heyworth Ave required. AH
- Memorial seat – AS reported JL has approved design. Order placed with County Gates. Plaque required.
- AS wrote to MIA and a photograph of the Green Flag presentation has been requested for their web site.
- Dog Fouling – Posters placed around the park (most removed!). Agreed to continue to highlight the problem. Any bin can now be used for disposal! Notice required.
- Police – JC reported regular visits and very few problems.
- Gill Leese has offered to plant and maintain the bed at the Compstall Rd entrance. Offer accepted.
6. Lighting - Why are only 50% of the lights working? MM to investigate.
7. Events
- Christmas Event confirmed for 9th December at 3.15pm. Choir sought – DB.
- Will we get a tree this year? Gazebos required. PA system /Cllr SL.
- Catering – check Coffee 4 U. Mince pies and biscuits from local traders- DB
- TA reported further details on the “Baton Passing” event on 7 July. Community Sports Day? Which sports? All to respond.
8. Exercise Circuit. RB responded yesterday. Advice on equipment & costs required..

- Next Meeting – 1 November 2011 7pm at the Life Centre.
- TA expressed thanks to the Life Centre for continued use for our meetings.

11 Task Days – 24 SEPTEMBER & 29th October 10.00 till Noon. School bed & bulbs.
