Meeting 10th May 2011
Minutes of Meeting held on 10th May 2011 @ 7.00pm at The Life Centre. Romiley.
Present: -Tracey Adams* (Chair), Beryl Smith*, Alan Smith*, Maureen Puckett, John Ackers*,Margaret McLay & Cllr Syd Lloyd *Residents.
1. Apologies from Rosie Sanderson*, Sharon MacCambridge-Ackers*, Cllr Hazel Lees, PC Gareth Latham & PC John Cracknell.
2. Minutes of the Meeting on 08 March 2011 were accepted as a true record.
3. Treasurers Report: - No payments since the last meeting. Current balance is £8906.14.
Problems with change of signatories and opening a deposit account have not been resolved.
JA offered to continue as Treasurer. Check with RS.
4. Play Area
Consultation is underway on new equipment & floor markings.
AS to write to Vanessa Brook seeking news on the progress of the installation & design. Amount of commuted sum estimated - £16,000.
A new rubbish bin and cycle rack will be installed at the front of play area. Outside the main gate.
Signage needs improving. “No ball games” and “no cycles” signs required.
5. Action Plan / Green Flag
TA / AS have a meeting with Jonathan Long on 13 May to discuss new planting and
options for the front circle. ? Planting Tubs – To be discussed with JL.
Centre Bed – All agreed that the present condition is totally unacceptable.
Optician’s bed – all planting completed.
Entrance Arch – agreed to proceed to design.
Bulbs will be provided in Autumn to plant along the boundary of Carlton Ave.
Signage around the park has been improved but more required.
Fruit trees to be considered. ? Memorial seat – AS to obtain seat details and prices.
MIA Community Fund staff to be invited to visit the park when the planting is established.
Dog Fouling –MP has contacted the Dog Warden. Signs posted but no noticeable
improvement. Agreed to make it more of an issue. Signage is to be improved and Dog
Warden to be asked to attend on the next task day. MP to action.
6. Lighting - Is it possible for the new lights to be on a time switch?
7. Events
The Easter Egg Hunt had been a success although with lower numbers attending.
Approximately 30 eggs left were donated to St Chad’s for distribution (SL actioned).
TA reported no interest in a Community Fun Day. The proposal is now dropped.
The group will not purchase a Gazebo.
It was agreed to proceed with the Christmas Event on 9th December– with or without tree
and lights. TA will confirm with Romiley Primary School Band. MP to contact Father
Christmas.
TA reported on a “Baton Passing” event connected with the Olympic Games. TA has
confirmed our interest to Chantelle at Tangshut Friends.
8. Exercise Circuit. TA outlined proposals for an exercise circuit using equipment similar to
that in Bredbury Park. It would be located along the “avenue” and could link to a similar
scheme at Tangshut.
9 Volunteer of the Year. TA informed the group that FRP had won the award. Display
in the notice board.
10 Next Meeting – 5 July 2011 7pm at the Life Centre. TA expressed thanks to the Life Centre for continued use for our meetings.
