FRIENDS OF ROMILEY PARK

Minutes of Meeting held on 08th March 2011 @ 7.00pm at The Life Centre. Romiley.

Present: -Tracey Adams* (Chair), Beryl Smith*, Alan Smith*, Debbie Barraclough*, Maureen

Puckett, Lisa Brumwell*, John Ackers*, Syd Lloyd*, & Cllr M McLay. *Residents.

1.Apologies from Rosie Sanderson*, Sharon MacCambridge-Ackers*& Cllr Hazel Lees.

2.Minutes of the Meeting on 11 January 2011 were accepted as a true record.

3.Treasurers Report: - No payments since the last meeting. RS had checked and a deposit

account had not been opened, as the signed papers had been lost. Start again.

The Chair reported that Lisa Brumwell had secured a further £5000 of sponsorship

funding from AkzoNobel. This would be ring fenced for Phase 2 of the Play Area. TA to

write with thanks. LB is to prepare a case study for AkzoNobel. Bank balance £8906.14.

5.Action Plan / Green Flag

? TA reported in detail on the quarterly review meeting with Andy Hodkinson – P&L.

? Planting Tubs – These will no longer be planted annually but money had been made available

for permanent planting. FRP to maintain thereafter.

? Centre Bed – no annual planting around the perimeter but permanent planting as above.

Weeding and wood chips by P&L once the plants were shooting and failures replaced.

? Grass surround – AH had sprayed to remove clover.

? Optician’s bed – set out and mulched for planting TA to check dates. Yew hedge planted.

? Entrance Arch – agreed to proceed to design.

? Bulbs will be provided in Autumn to plant along the boundary of Carlton Ave.

? Bird and bat boxes have been fixed by AH & Staff.

? Six new trees ,paid for by FRP, planted by P&L staff.

? A new rubbish bin and cycle rack will be installed at the front of play area. Outside the main

gate.

? Signage around the park is being improved by JB.

? Fruit trees to be considered.

? Memorial seat – MP & family to consider options.

? MIA Community Fund staff to be invited to visit the park when the planting is established.

? Dog-Fouling –MP to contact the Dog Warden. Signage is to be improved to deter offenders.

7. Play Area

? Sponsor now secured – consult on new equipment & floor markings. Age Group?

? Amount of commuted £11000.

? TA to contact Richard Booker re an exercise circuit

8. Lighting - Is it possible for the new lights to be on a time switch?

9. Web Site – LB will continue to manage. Link to Romiley Life Centre added. Link to local

transport to be added.

10 Events

?It was agreed that FRP would host an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday 23 April 11.00 to Noon.

200 eggs /AS to purchase. Consider other attractions. Posters and Plastic Tags required.

?A Community Fun Day based around music groups/bands incl Werneth Youth Band is to be

held at the beginning of July if there is sufficient interest.

?It was agreed to purchase a Gazebo for FRP usage. AS to action.

11 Volunteer of the Year . TA informed the group that FRP had been nominated.

11 Next Meeting – 10 May 2011 7pm at the Life Centre. TA expressed thanks to the Life

Centre for continued use for our meetings.

11 Task Day – 26 March – Tidy up Stock Dove entrance,
