On the 4th July 2009, Friends of Romiley Park held a celebration of their successful ‘Big Lottery’ Bid of £25,000, called ‘Picnic In The Park’.

The event saw Olympic Gold Medalist James Goddard open the refurbished play area in front of over 1,000 Romiley residents, who came to enjoy the new equipment, play coached football, participate in the dog competition and enjoy the entertainment of Romiley Primary School Brass Band, NK Theatre Group and a jazz trio and much more.
